Podcast - Audio Hardware

Image
Mr Wayan gave us a tutorial on how to build a set up to record podcast and he introduced us to the audio hardwares used and here's a summary of it made by my teammate, Hugo. https://hugo-regentsmedia.blogspot.com/2022/11/podcast-tutorial-summary.html Podcast Tutorial - Summary There are 2 types of mics in the studio: Condenser Mic - The mic is very affordable, it has good sound quality. But it has  its downsides, it's very sensitive to sounds which means that it not only detects the audio from the speaker but the surroundings also which isn't the ideal sound for a podcast. It's usually used for recording instruments and vocals. Dynamic Mic - This mic is expensive, as it's expensive it has good quality also. Dynamic mic is the opposite of condense mic. It is not sensitive to sounds which only captures the speakers voice, it records by speaking directly to the front of the mic. Even though it's expensive there's a cheaper alternative like the ones commonly use...

Podcast Recording Trial

Image
This blog was mostly written by my teammate Kimi as I was not present at the trial recording session. Intro & Jingle This was our first attempt at making the intro. We made the jingle/Intro song with Garageband on Kanna's iPad. We watched a few basic tutorials on YouTube and Google to use the app. We experimented with different instruments, notes and chords on the app and after we were done making the jingle, we recorded Erina's voice and edited it with the jingle and added a sound effect to her voice. I tried to make the jingle by using the mixture of Cello, Viola and Violin sounds to make it sound creepy. Podcast Recording Session We booked a session of the radio room in our school to record our podcast. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the recording session so it was just Kimi, Erin and Hugo. We struggled for a while to set-up the mics and the speakers but we managed to set it up with the help of a teacher, Mr. Defri. Me and Hugo attempted to record the intro of...

Podcast Survey

Image
In order to find out our target audiences' preferences we made a survey with Google Forms. We shared the survey to grade 10, 11 and 12 students from Regents Secondary School and successfully gathered 55 responses. The survey has gave us ideas about what type of podcast the students from our school prefer. This has helps us to target audiences effectively and to create a podcast that is able to fulfill our audiences' demands. Here are the results of our survey: A large ratio of the students consume podcast/radio every few weeks or every few months and most of them consume crime related media. A bigger group of the students prefer old and heavy crime cases. They also prefer narrator based podcast. However after other researched we settled on a mix of narrator and narrative based podcast. Since most of them prefer heavy crime cases we chose cover 2 murder cases. Through our 9th question we found out that most of the students are fine with graphic contents as most of them answered ...

Podcast Research

This blog is written by me. Podcasts we listened in class The Weekly Planet - Ghostbusters 2016 - The Caravan of Garbage This podcast was published on Spotify by Planet broadcasting. This podcast is a conversational styled unscripted podcast which covers topics related to movies, TV and comics. Due to its low budget, the quality of the audio is considerably poor. The podcast does not feature any sound effects, just two men having a conversation about movies. As it includes a lot of references of old media throughout the podcast, I'm assuming that they're targeting the podcast for 30-40 years old men. Batman Unburied This podcast was published on Spotify by Warner Bros. / Spotify Studios This podcast is a scripted podcast about a serial killer. Unlike the previous podcast, this podcast features a high quality audio, sound effects and background music to make the podcast interesting and immersive to the listeners. This is a narrative based podcast, it brings the listeners imagina...

Weekly Diary (Podcast Project)

Image
Week 0  Mr Nick gave us an overview about the podcast project and we listened to a few podcast examples in class. I also did my own research by listening to podcasts on Spotify. https://kanna-regentsmedia.blogspot.com/2022/11/podcast-research.html Week 1 In our first class we created a group for our podcast project (Kanna, Kimi, Erina, Hugo) Firstly, our group discussed the main idea for our podcast (theme, audience) and we decided to make a true crime podcast for teenagers around our age. We also created a survey in google form that we will send to Grade 10-12. We also listened to the first 5 minutes of 2 different history podcast and evaluate who's their target audience (Demographics/Psychographics). We made several questions to help us get a better understanding of our target market such as: 1. Grade 2. Gender 3. How often do you listen to podcast/radio? 4. Do you watch/listen to crime medias? If yes, what is your favorite show/podcast? 5. Do you like modern or old crime cases? ...
